Ram Navami at Shirdi 2026 — Day-by-Day Schedule & Special Pujas

Updated: 18 May 2026Reviewed by: Shirdi Sansthan Editorial DeskVerified against: Shri Sai Baba Sansthan Trust notifications

Ram Navami Shirdi 2026 falls on Friday, 27 March, and the Shri Sai Baba Sansthan Trust runs a three-day festival from 25 March to 27 March. Expect palki processions, sahasranamavali chanting, special abhishek and mahaprasad for over 100,000 devotees. Crowds run 8-10 times normal. The day-by-day plan below covers timing, queue strategy and the rituals you should not miss.

Ram Navami is one of the three biggest annual festivals at Shirdi alongside Guru Purnima and Vijaya Dashami (Punyatithi). The 2026 dates land on a long weekend — Friday 27 March, with Saturday and Sunday following — which will push crowd numbers even higher than usual. Book everything early.

Why Ram Navami Is a Major Festival at Shirdi

Sai Baba began celebrating Ram Navami at Shirdi in 1897 on the suggestion of Gopal Rao Gund. From a small village fair, it has grown into the festival that opens the Shirdi calendar year. Devotees believe Sai Baba personally attended every Ram Navami during his lifetime, and the rituals reproduce the schedule he set: morning palki, midday Ram Janma, evening kirtan, and night-long bhajan.

Three-Day Schedule at a Glance (25-27 March 2026)

Day Date Key Rituals
Day 1 Wed 25 March Preparation, decoration, special abhishek
Day 2 Thu 26 March Main puja, palki procession, Ram Janma
Day 3 Fri 27 March Rath yatra, mahaprasad, dhwaja arohan

Day 1 — Wednesday 25 March 2026

4:30 AM Kakad Aarti

Standard morning Aarti opens the festival day. Pass holders are seated by 4:00 AM. Already 3-4 times the usual Kakad crowd.

6:00 AM – 9:00 AM Akhand Parayan Begins

Trust pandits start the akhand parayan (uninterrupted recitation) of Sai Satcharitra and Ramayan in the Dwarkamai precinct. This runs continuously until Day 3 evening.

10:00 AM Special Abhishek to Samadhi

Trustee-led abhishek with milk, curd, honey, ghee and sandalwood paste on the Samadhi. The mandir is closed to general darshan during the abhishek, roughly 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM. Plan your Day 1 darshan either before 9:00 AM or after 11:30 AM.

12:00 PM Madhyan Aarti

Madhyan Aarti pass holders only. General queue continues outside. Pass slots for Day 1 sell out 25-30 days ahead — book on sai.org.in the day bookings open.

6:00 PM – 10:30 PM Evening Programmes

Bhajan mandals from across Maharashtra perform in the open-air pavilion. Dhoop Aarti at sunset, free seating in the outer hall. Shej Aarti at 10:30 PM closes the day.

Day 2 — Thursday 26 March 2026 (Main Festival Day, Ram Janma)

Thursday plus Ram Navami plus a Friday holiday makes Day 2 the heaviest crowd day. Expect 200,000+ pilgrims. Avoid this day if you have small children, elderly parents or a same-day return.

4:00 AM – 4:30 AM Kakad Aarti

The mandir opens at 4:00 AM as usual. Devotees who slept overnight near the gate are seated first. If you do not have a Kakad pass, do not attempt this slot — the crowd is impossible.

5:30 AM – 10:00 AM Palki Procession from Khandoba

The decorated palki of Sai Baba leaves Khandoba Mandir and processes through Pimpalwadi Road, Gurusthan and Dwarkamai. Devotees line both sides of the road from 5:30 AM. Find a spot near Lendi Baug for a clear view; the procession reaches there around 8:30 AM.

12:00 PM Sahasranamavali and Ram Janma

Pandits chant the Vishnu Sahasranama and recite the moment of Ram Janma at noon. This is the spiritual high point of the festival. Samadhi Mandir is choked solid — only Madhyan Aarti pass holders sit inside.

2:00 PM – 5:00 PM Mahaprasad

The Trust serves mahaprasad for over 100,000 devotees. Queue at the Prasadalay extension grounds; tokens are free. The kitchen runs in three rotations to handle the volume.

10:30 PM Shej Aarti and Chavadi Procession

Because Day 2 is a Thursday, the regular weekly Chavadi procession runs after Shej Aarti — Sai Baba’s palki moves from Samadhi Mandir to Chavadi. On a Ram Navami Thursday this procession is the most attended of the year. Find your spot on the Chavadi route by 10:00 PM.

Day 3 — Friday 27 March 2026 (Ram Navami Tithi)

4:30 AM Kakad Aarti

Quieter than Day 2 because Ram Janma was on Day 2. Still 4-5 times normal crowd.

9:00 AM Rath Yatra

The grand rath (chariot) of Sai Baba is pulled by devotees through the main Shirdi roads. The route covers Pimpalwadi Road, Sainagar Road and returns to the Trust complex. Photography is allowed along the route (not inside mandirs). This is the festival’s most photographed moment.

11:30 AM Dhwaja Arohan

The festival flag is hoisted on the Samadhi Mandir gopuram. Marks the formal end of the three-day festival.

12:00 PM Madhyan Aarti

Final Aarti of the festival cycle. Pass-holders only.

2:00 PM Onwards Mahaprasad Continues

Mahaprasad continues until evening or until food runs out — whichever comes first.

Booking Strategy for Ram Navami 2026

30-45 Days Ahead

  • Open sai.org.in the day bookings release. Try for Aarti passes for Day 1 or Day 3 — Day 2 sells out in 10 minutes.
  • Book Bhakt Niwas for at least two nights. Prefer 25-26 March or 26-27 March stay.
  • Book return train (Sainagar Shirdi to your city) for evening of Day 3 or morning of Day 4. Tatkal often gone by mid-morning on these dates.

15 Days Ahead

  • If Bhakt Niwas is full, try private hotels on Pimpalwadi Road — Sai Sagar, Hotel Sun-N-Sand, Sai Inn. Rates rise 200-300% during festival.
  • Coordinate group passes if travelling with family — all passes can be booked under one login with separate IDs.

3 Days Ahead

  • Check the official Trust notice at sai.org.in for any schedule changes — extended Aartis, additional security checks, route changes for the palki.
  • Pack medicines for 5 days, a portable water bottle, and printed copies of all passes and IDs.

Crowd Survival Tips

  • Travel in pairs minimum. Solo navigation in 200,000 crowd at Samadhi Mandir is risky.
  • Use a single meeting point if you get separated — Lendi Baug entrance is the easiest to find.
  • Phones limited. Cloakroom queues take 30-45 minutes on festival days. Carry only one phone per family group.
  • Hydrate. March daytime in Shirdi crosses 35°C. Carry ORS sachets.
  • Children with name-tags. Write your phone number on a tag pinned inside the child’s shirt.
  • Senior citizens should use the priority gate — see our senior citizen Shirdi yatra guide.

What to Skip If You Have Only One Day

If you can come for only one day of the festival, pick Day 3 (27 March). The rath yatra is the most accessible ritual for a one-day visit, crowds are lower than Day 2, and you can pair Aarti + darshan + mahaprasad in a single day with a pre-booked VIP pass. See our VIP darshan strategy for hour-by-hour sequencing adapted to festival load.

Other 2026 Festivals at Shirdi

If you cannot make Ram Navami, plan for one of the other two big 2026 festivals: Guru Purnima on Tuesday 28 July and Punyatithi/Vijaya Dashami on Monday 19 October. Full calendar on the Shirdi festivals 2026 page.
